These terms govern your use of CountLink (the "Service"), a free website that generates and displays shared countdown timers. By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Description of the service. CountLink lets you create a countdown with a duration and label, and generates a shareable link that encodes the countdown's end time. Anyone who opens that link sees a countdown to the same end time, computed locally on their own device. The Service does not require an account, does not store countdowns on a server, and is provided free of charge with no paid tier.
2. Acceptable use. You agree not to use the Service to: violate any applicable law; harass, defraud, or deceive others; distribute malware or attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or the systems it runs on; or misrepresent a countdown's origin in a way intended to mislead recipients. CountLink may take reasonable steps to prevent abusive automated traffic that degrades the Service for other users.
3. No account, no stored content. Because a countdown's data (its end time and label) lives entirely in the link you generate and share, CountLink has no ability to delete, recover, or moderate an individual countdown after it's created — there is no database of countdowns to act on. You are responsible for who you share a link with.
4. Third-party features. The optional "Show QR code" feature sends your generated link to a third-party QR-code rendering service (goqr.me) to produce an image; this only happens if you click that button. The Service may display advertising served by Google AdSense and may use Google Analytics; see the Privacy Policy for details on both. Your use of those third-party services is also subject to their own terms.
5. Service provided "as is." The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. Sync accuracy depends on the accuracy of each device's own system clock, which CountLink does not control. CountLink does not guarantee the Service will be available at any given moment, free of errors, or suitable for time-critical or safety-critical use.
6. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CountLink and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including, without limitation, any missed deadline, exam, meeting, or event resulting from a countdown displaying inaccurately, a device clock being incorrect, or the Service being unavailable. Use the Service at your own discretion for anything genuinely time-critical.
7. Intellectual property. The CountLink name, design, and underlying code are the property of the Service's operator except where third-party assets (such as web fonts) are separately licensed. You may link to and share CountLink-generated links freely; you may not copy the Service's design or code to operate a competing product without permission.
8. Changes to these terms. These terms may be updated as the Service changes. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
